  • Herrera Store and Office, Carnuel, early 1960s
Rosalia Griego Herrera and her husband Alejandro Herrera in front of their store and the office they rented out to an insurance agent. Herrera built the structure in 1951, after he could no longer farm and the busy highway made hauling wood to Albuquerque by wagon too dangerous. He ran it until about 1961. The building still stands at the east end of Carnuel, on the north side of Old 66.
